Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Empowered Women Encouraging Women, affectionately known as EWEW, was birthed by divine calling in 2000 in Philadelphia, PA. Its genesis lies in the spirit and passion of our ministry director, Merldean Wilmore, ignited after attending her first conference in 1989 in Petersburg, VA. In 1992, she was instrumental in starting a First Ladies Ministry for Pamela McLaughlin at the Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Petersburg. This ministry birthed the first Women’s conference at the church, and there has been a Women’s Conference every year since. Merldean has faithfully attended these gatherings annually. Determined to share these blessings, Merldean began inviting friends and family to join her annual pilgrimage. Soon, women from Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland joined in. These gatherings became more than just trips; they were spiritual journeys, fostering growth, knowledge, worship, fellowship, sisterhood, and evangelism. There is a unique magic when women come together to worship, finding solace from the burdens of overwork, sleep deprivation, and stress.
Our Story
The mission of EWEW Ministries is to cater to the spiritual and emotional needs of women from all walks of life. It aims to nurture faith in Christ, cultivate deep friendships, and provide avenues for service and outreach. Through faith, the ministry seeks to create profound encounters of encouragement, reflecting the boundless grace of God. Love and genuine care are the cornerstones of our relationships, echoing the love God has shown us through His Son.
Our array of offerings—retreats, conferences, seminars, mid-week prayer calls, Bible studies, prayer sessions, and workshops—are all tailored to fulfill our God-given mandate of sharing the transformative power of worship, teaching, and encouragement with more and more women. Additionally, we provide personalized coaching, mentoring, intercessory prayer, and support to those in need.
EWEW has become a beacon of hope and support for the wounded, oppressed, and marginalized, facilitated by collaborations with other ministries and mutual support in various outreach endeavors.
